Perhaps the most lovely of scenes takes place in a country field where Maude says that if she is reincarnated as a flower, she would 'like to change into a sunflower most of all' because they are tall and simple. She then asks Harold what he would like to be and points out to this...
When she asked him why, he replies 'Because they're all alike'.
She tells him that they are not all alike. Looked out individually they are different, some fatter, some taller, all different.
All unique and special.
Perhaps the most wise statement comes next when she says, 'You see, Harold, I feel that much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are 'this':
yet allow themselves to be treated as 'that'
I thought of this today, and how it doesn't just apply to flowers or wonderful 70's movies. Especially when this came walking toward me....
