You've Got to Get Under It.

A few years ago I took a sculpture class. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I haven't had many opportunities to be creative, though I always wanted to be. This gave me a chance to work with my hands and make something that was mine. That I made on my own. It is much harder than it looks. I had trouble with the 3D art, I felt my work lacked, well, dimension. My teacher, seeing me not understand what was wrong leaned toward me and whispered in my ear, 'you've got to get under it.' By seeing the work and your subject from a different perspective, another world opens up.

This applies to more than sculpture. It's a saying I take with me everyday, especially when the world doesn't make sense. Without fail, once you get under it, it makes more sense and somehow less scary. It always makes it more interesting. And of course, more beautiful than before.
